Apex Legends fans have had a lot to celebrate this month, beginning with the third season officially starting with the new Crypto and World’s Edge map, the scary ShadowFall Halloween event, and now the highly anticipated Duo mode as the game celebrates a new record.
Although it came in the late era of the Battle Royale games, Apex Legends was able to offer a refreshing and interesting gameplay that made it stand out from the rest of the similar games, which ended up copying some of Apex’s features after it proved successful. Indeed, the Respawn game proved to be popular in a very short period with 10 million downloads in just three days, surpassing Fortnite’s 10 million downloads in two weeks.
Just one week after the launch, that figure doubled to 25 million, and by the first month it had reached 50 million. These successes could not have continued without a few pitfalls, as the game faced a great challenge in proving its viability with the resentment of the fans on one map, the few additional content and diverse competitive patterns, something that Respawn team has worked hard to fix since the start of the second season until now.
The team’s efforts have come to fruition, as the studio announced yesterday that the number of players has reached a new record of 70 million downloads, thanks to new updates and additions to the game since March until now. Though the number is still small compared to its 200 million rival Fortnite, it is not to be underestimated.
In celebration of the new achievement, Apex Legends players will be able to play a mode they have always demanded: Duos, starting November 5.
It is unfortunate that the new mode will be available for a limited time this season, but its success may give developers the data they need to include it permanently in the future, as we heard when introducing Solo for a limited time a few weeks ago. It will be interesting to see the clashes that fewer players will get across the larger World’s Edge map from King’s Canyon.
You can watch the new show right now while waiting for the new launch on November 5, so get ready with your best friend for the adventure together. Apex Legends is available for download via PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Starting next week, for a limited time, it takes ✌.
