Registration now open for West Asia countries in WESG 2017 qualifiers and more

World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) revealed the start of West Asia registrations as a part of the APAC qualifiers for its 2017 editions. This gives Arab teams the chance to compete at CS: GO, Dota 2, StarCraft II and Hearthstone for a spot at the $4 million Grand finals



WESG APAC qualifiers will be played in the upcoming few weeks where teams fight for a spot in the APAC finals in China January 11 of next year, with traveling expenses and accommodations paid by sponsor AliSports.

Eighteen sub-regions from Asia and Pacific will have their 20 representative teams by the end of the qualifiers. This includes the West Asia area consisting of Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen, and UAE.

WESG APAC finals will have a total of $279,800 in prize pool for the eight winning teams of each game tournament. CS: GO and Dota 2 first place winners will have $40,000 while StarCraft II champion is taking $18,000 home. Hearthstone winner $16,000 and Women’s CS: GO has teams fighting for $3,000 first place.


As for the main, worldwide WESG 2017 event taking place later teams will be fighting over their share of around $4 million in prizes, with CS: GO and Dota 2 alone having $1.5 million in total for each. Check out the table below for distributions:

WCA 2017, another international tournament that had qualifiers in the Middle East saw superstar Dota 2 player “Miracle-” leading his team Orcus to win and advance to world stage, while Iraqi Next Generation team managed to snatch the title for CS: GO qualifiers.
