Haitani wins the second Capcom Cup of the year

Tatsuya “Haitani” Haitana managed to stand tall over Hiromiki “Itabashi Zangief” Kumada at the second Capcom Cup event of the year, taking home 400 Capcom Pro Tour points.

Itabashi Zangief sent Haitana down to the loser’s bracket in their first meeting of the tournament in the fourth round of the losers bracket so Haitani was looking for revenge. In the Grand Final Haitana decimated his opponent in a clean sweep 3-0 to reset the bracket against Itabashi Zangief, after coming up from the losers bracket.

There would be no comeback from Itabashi Zangief as Haitani repeated himself for a second 3-0 sweep in the losers grand finals to take the Premier title. Haitana already had 70 points on the leaderboard going into the Premier event from his ninth place finish at Final Round 20 last month. The win means that Haitani heads to the top of the leaderboard. Haitani now leads Kun Xian Ho, who had held the place for the majority of the tour.
