One of the largest finance companies enters the League of Legends esports scene

Riot Games seems to have just won one of the best sponsorship deals in the world of esports, with the well-known Mastercard company joining the list of supporters of the League of Legends esports scene

The two companies announced their new multi-year partnership deal yesterday, confirming previous reports published by global esports sites. Although not much details have been shared about the deal, Mastercard has said it’s making its debut at the League of Legends upcoming Worlds event in South Korea.

Mastercard will use its platform to deliver exciting new experiences to its cardholders, providing behind-the-scenes access and team rehearsals tours as well as seats in the VIP section of the tournament, and will also allow Priceless customers to experience the gaming PCs that players will use in the competition.

“Esports is a phenomenon that continues to grow in popularity, with fans that can rival those at any major sporting event in their enthusiasm and energy,” Mastercard chief marketing and communications officer Raja Rajamannar said in a statement. “Our Priceless platform is built around connecting with people through their passions. We are excited about the experiences and benefits we can bring to the world’s largest esport—both in-game and to the millions of League of Legends fans that watch and attend the tournaments each year.”

The new deal will focus on the three major events, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), All-Star Game and the World Championship. Where Mastercard promotions and the benefits of its priceless platform will appear, such as providing an event-specific All-Star package to subscribers from the United States and Canada, as well as other offers as such through the partnership.

The main event of the League of Legends World Championship 2018 will begin with the Playoffs stage at the start of next October.
