We got Capcom’s part of the deal with Street Fighter x Tekken in 2012, which is a mash-up of the two fighters in the style of Street Fighter series. However, the other part which is Namco’s in bringing Tekken x Street Fighter is yet to be done with many delays so far. Now, it has been put temporarily on hold.
Tekken director Harada announced yesterday that the team decided to put the development of the game on hold. The reason is because Bandai Namco doesn’t want to divide communities who are currently either playing Street Fighter V or waiting patiently for Tekken 7.
“We try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games,” said Harada. “Currently the situation with fighting games is you have Street Fighter 5 and a large crowd out there waiting on Tekken 7.We don’t want to split these communities.”
Tekken 7: Fated Retribution was announced for the PS4 last year, and is expected to release this year with a PSVR support.
